How can you make sexed semen work for you?
Sexed semen is ideal for use in maiden heifers. It is critical to consider high yielding and cows
with calving difficulties. Heat observation is ESSENTIAL and for the best results cows should be checked at least 3 to 4 times daily. To ensure best results service should be carried out 12 hours after the onset of standing oestrus. Attention to detail is critical when serving. Minimise the length of time the straw is exposed and only handle using tweezers. The semen should be thawed one straw at a time and thaw straight away in a thermos at 37°C for 40 seconds. Semen should be inseminated within 5 minutes of removing from the tank. Only the best will do!
